Drew Pomeranz, Boston Red Sox LHP, placed on DL but still could make first start vs. Tigers | image by masslive.com
Here we go again….
Drew Pomeranz was placed on the 10 day DL yesterday with a ‘strained flexor tendon.’ Now, I know a lot of analysts have said it could be just a roster move that allows Pomeranz to get healthy and allow the Sox to have an extra reliever for the first few series, but ince we traded OUR BEST PITCHING PROSPECT for Pomeranz, he has done nothing but disappoint and show signs that he is the second coming of Clay Buchholz.
Pomeranz was a National League All Star last year but never pitched in any big market cities like Boston (previously in Oakland, Colorado and San Diego). Pomeranz has struggled since coming over to Boston finishing last season here with a 3-5 record and a 4.53 ERA.
With just a few short days away from Opening Day, the Red Sox pitching staff is the most hurt team in the league.
David Price, who actually knows what’s going on with him, Tyler Thornburg is starting the year on the DL with a shoulder impingement, Steven Wright was spotted wearing a knee brace and now Pomeranz heads to the DL. The crazy part about this is the Red Sox haven’t even played a meaningful game yet…..absolutely mind boggling.
Dombrowski seems to be backing himself into a corner with all his acquisitions being banged up.
