The Bruins were 0-4 vs the Senators in the regular season heading into their playoff series vs Ottawa. With a great 2-1 comeback win on Thursday night in Ottawa, the Bruins were in good position for the rest of the series. In game 2, the Bruins were in great position to steal not one but both the second game on the road when they had a 3-1 lead with under 15 minutes left in the game. Two goals in under 3 minutes by Ottawa tied the game at 3 in the 3rd period, and it remained scoreless until overtime. Dion Phaneuf netted the overtime winner for the Senators just over 2 minutes in, completing the 4-3 comeback win for Ottawa.
The series will shift over to Boston on Monday night at TD Garden for game 3, and then on Wednesday night for Game 4 in Boston as well. The Bruins are still in good shape having stolen a game on the road in game 1, but the game 2 loss hurts mentally as well. They were in great position to steal both games and couldn’t hold the lead, which guarantees a return to Ottawa for game 5. It will be interesting to see how the Bruins respond to their letdown in game 3 on Monday night. It is unknown whether the Bruins missing players such as David Krejci will return to the lineup. Meanwhile, the Celtics playoffs are underway tomorrow (Easter Sunday) at 6:30 P.M. vs the Bulls at TD Garden.
