2017 AL Central Champion Chicago White Sox?

As for all the money I recently lost during my trip to Las Vegas at the end of March, I still have high hopes for one last $10.00 Straight Bet placed on March 31st at the Caesars Palace Race and Sports Book. And yes that is on the Chicago White Sox to win the AL Central. Opening up at 60-1 odds and sitting at a very solid 40-1 at the time of the bet, I’m looking forward to a decent return of $400. A potential $400 that could restore a small portion of the amount I lost over those extremely long 5 days.

Of course it is very early into the season but I’m liking our chances. With a season said to be doomed with the departure of ace Chris Sale and defensive stud Adam Eaton, the front office went and brought in several of baseball’s top prospects. Some names such as Yoan Moncada(#1), Lucas Giolito(#9) and Michael Kopech(#14) all rank in the MLB’s top 15.

With a system full of young talent we are potentially looking at one of the most interesting teams of the next few years but I say why not now? Assuming they live up to expectations, the addition of these prospects to the lineup alongside the likes of Jose Abreu, Jose Quintana, Todd Frazier and Tim Anderson can make for some good baseball here on the South Side. The Sox currently sit third at 7-7 and half a game back from the Tigers and Indians. They split their series 1-1 with the Tigers to open the season and currently hold a 2-1 record over the Indians with a second series coming up next on the schedule.

I may just be dreaming big but I sure wouldn’t mind taking a celebratory trip to Vegas in early October to collect my winnings.
