The San Francisco Giants have decided to call up their #1 prospect in the likes of Christian Arroyo, but the question is, is here here to stay? Early into the 2017 season, the Giants seem to have a rotating door at the hot corner, as none of the 3 options have really grasped the job as their own ( Eduardo Nunez, Aaron Hill, Conor Gillaspie). The question is can Arroyo fill that void and live up to the hype that comes with being the #1 prospect in an organization.
In 16 games at Triple A Sacramento, Arroyo has 29 hits, with 3HR’s, 12RBIs, and a .446 average. All the numbers point to the #1 prospect becoming a staple in the Giants lineup, and only time will tell. The time has started, as Arroyo has been tabbed as the starting 3B and will bat 6th in the lineup, surrounded by Brandon Belt, Buster Posey, and Hunter Pence.
Arroyo was drafted by the San Francisco Giants 25th overall in the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft out of High School. If the highly touted prospect does not work out, who knows, maybe the Red Sox can sell Pablo Sandoval back to the Giants, in a similar deal such as the one with Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and others with the Los Angeles Dodgers. We will see.
