This Is Not the Boston Red Sox

Having the Red Sox back playing real baseball, not spring training, almost every day is an absolutely beautiful thing.  Chris Sale is in mid season form leading the league in strikeouts and second in ERA, looking great.  Andrew Benintendi after a slow start has been guns blazing ever since.

But this is not the team that we will see come July, hopefully.  We had to go a decent amount of time without JBJ.  Even without that injury we were attacked by the flu: Mitch Mooreland, Mookie Betts, Robbie Ross, Brock Holt, Joe Kelly and Andrew Benintendi.  Benintendi being the only one to not miss a game due to the flu, but that made out for them.

As the season progresses we should see the team come back to the form we want to see.

Hopefully we get this Carson Smith:

And this Tyler Thornburg:

Having these guys out of your bullpen is what you need to go the distance in this day in the MLB.  I would much rather have these two trotting out to the hill than watching Heath Hembree and Robby Scott.  Makes our bullpen a force to be reckoned with, with Kelly, Barnes, Ross, Smith, Thornburg and Kimbrell to close. That is tough to face especially when you have Chris Sale going 7 or 8 innings each game giving up virtually zero runs.  Also, if we get David Price to anything to what he was last year we will be back to having 3 aces and E-Rod pitching great and Pomeranz keeping up his good work.

Simply once we get healthy we have one of, if not the, best team in baseball.
