Wonder Woman – June 2, 2017
We first met Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in Batman v Superman and she was the best thing about that movie. It made the anticipation for the Wonder Woman solo movie that much better. The movie is either going to be great or they just did a great job piecing the trailer together because the trailer is fantastic. Many have said that this is the DC movie that will put them on the map to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is the first solo female superhero movie to be released by either side so this could be a gold mine for DC or a warning for Marvel.
Justice League – November 17, 2017
In BvS we got to see a video clip of each Justice League member not included in the film; Cyborg, The Flash, and Aquaman. The teaser for Justice League has left Superman (Henry Cavill) out of the promo but that is because he “died” at the end of BvS in a selfless act. But as the movie ended we saw the dirt on his coffin rising. Anyone who really thought Superman was dead is either a child or an idiot. There were reports that they retooled a lot of the film after the negative reviews of BvS, which hopefully means that they fixed the mistakes they were going to make. Of course it also could mean they made the movie a mess and it misses a narrative and is confusing. Either way anytime you can get some of the most popular superheroes in one movie together I am excited to go see it.
Aquaman – December 21, 2018
There is no way that DCEU will wait an entire year before its next film when Marvel is releasing now three movies a year. I am guessing the solo Batman film will be the early release in 2018. We first saw Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in BvS and it felt weird not seeing Vince from Entourage playing the part. This is a risky film since it all takes place under water in the city of Atlantis. But with director James Wan (Furious 7) on board I have a little more confidence. The villain of the movie has been confirmed as Black Manta. This is a movie that could be visually stunning or just absolutely awful, no middle ground.
Shazam! – April 5, 2019
The most important thing about this movie is that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is playing the villain Black Adam and is rumored to be getting his own solo movie as Black Adam in the future. It hasn’t been confirmed if Shazam! will be connected with the rest of the DCEU or if it will its own solo movie be like Deadpool was with Marvel. They haven’t even cast the main role in the movie of teenager Billy Batson yet. But again, who cares, The Rock is in it.
Green Lantern Corps – July 24, 2020
Green Lantern will not be in the Justice League movie because people still remember the god awful Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie. Hopefully by 2020 it will be forgotten and the Green Lantern can start over. There have been rumors that Green Lantern will show up in the credits of Justice League but there have been no castings made for the movie. The only thing we know is that it will focus on Hal Jordan and John Stewart and is being described as “Lethal Weapon in space.”
The Flash – Unknown date in 2020
It’s confusing that DC has a television Flash and now a movie Flash. Marvel definitely beats DC when it comes to organization as their TV shows match with their movies and they have dates for all movies in the future. Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) is definitely a favorite superhero to many and I don’t understand why they are pushing this solo move so far out. Right now the movie doesn’t have a director after Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) left. This movie is a wait and see.
Cyborg – Unknown date in 2020
I think DC missed out on Cyborg’s origin story having the solo movie come years after we saw a brief glimpse of how Cyborg was made in BvS. Victor Stone’s (Ray Fisher) story is actually a really cool one and would have been great to see on the big screen. I’m sure they will show you how it happened but it isn’t the same when done as flashbacks.
Other movie projects without any dates attached:
The Batman – Ben Affleck has stepped down from directing after he wanted to take his time developing the movie and the studio wanted it sooner rather than later.
Dark Universe – The movie will feature John Constantine, Swap Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon.
Gotham City Sirens – After Suicide Squad, Gotham City Sirens will serve as a Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) spin-off and not a sequel. It hasn’t been confirmed but rumors are that she will team up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman in the movie.
Justice League 2 – Originally scheduled for release in 2019 it was moved to an unknown date. Most likely to clear up room for other solo movies and introduce Green Lantern to the DCEU so he can join the Justice League in the 2nd film.
Man of Steel 2 – Told you Superman wasn’t dead! Nothing is known about this movie, even the title isn’t official.
Deadshot – It’s Will Smith, of course he will get his own spin-off. Especially since his was really the only full backstory you saw in Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad 2 – The first movie wasn’t great but did have some fun interesting characters and made a lot of money. You would think with Harley Quinn and Deadshot getting their own spin-off this sequel will be awhile before we see it.
Lobo – The film has a writer and a director already. Lobo will be the foulmouthed superhero as Deadpool was for Marvel.
Black Adam – The Rock in his own movie as the main character. Sign me up!
