The NFL has experienced quite a RB shake up in the past offseason. The first one that was huge was that AP was leaving the Vikings and joining the Saints. Now AP has spent his whole career in Minnesota and he hasn’t one anything and so it seemed right for both teams to have a split. Now it confuses me why the Saints wanted AP so bad since they already have Mark Ingram and they drafted another RB. If I was a team with no RB then I would consider AP but the Saints? They have a nice young RB who is always pretty healthy so it is mystifies me.
The next RB to shuffle is Marshawn Lynch. Now this guy retired last year even when he was still getting over 1000 yards rushing and the Las Vegas Raiders kicked the tires on him. They found that he probably has some gas left in the tank and he could be a huge help to them. Just imagine Derek Carr and Marshawn Lynch in the same backfield, with Cooper and Crabtree on the outsides. Now that is a team that could compete with the stacked Patriots. This is a brilliant move by the Raiders as their running game last year wasn’t too good so this could be a nice upgrade.
Next on this list is not a very big name but he is replacing AP in Minnesota so I feel like I have to mention him. Latavious Murray is now a Viking and now they did get youger at the position but I don’t know if they got any better. Minnesota needs a RB who can take 20-25 carries a game because they just declined their franchise QB’s fifth year option Teddy Bridgewater and their QB now is Sam Bradford. Bradford needs a running game to keep the pass rush off him because Bradford is not a great QB at all.
The next RB isn’t on a team right now so technically he hasn’t shuffled yet but it looks like he is going to a division rival. Jamal Charles did in fact visit and try out for the Denver Broncos and I think this would be a great fit. He could be a solid depth player and possible third down back for a developing Paxton Lynch. Now Charles would not be the main back or even the second string because CJ Anderson and Devon Booker are still in Denver. Still if this happens he would be going to a division rival and that makes this story so much better.
One that people forget about is Eddie Lacy. He was shipped out to Seattle but he wasn’t very good in Greenbay so it left many wondering what could they possibly be doing. From my view of things is it looks like they are trying to recreate what they had with Beast Mode. Rawls is still the main guy there so I honestly don’t see it going well for him. Rawls is going to be getting the majority of the carries while C.J Prosise is the third down back. Prosise showed great promise when he ripped the Pats apart in their W last year. Lacy really needs to earn his spot here and if he doesn’t he is gonna have to find a new home, again.
Lastly there is still one RB to be heard from, Legarette Blount. Nobody knows what is going to happen to the 18 touchdown scorer but one thing is certain. The Patriots have loaded up for ANOTHER Super Bowl and it looks like LG will not be apart of it. They have White, Lewis, Burkhead, Gillislee, Bolden and Foster, so it looks there is no room for him on the roster. I believe a possible landing spot for him is Greenbay
