Now that the Celtics traded the top pick to Philly, the Celtics have reportedly zeroed in on Duke Forward Jayson Tatum according to ESPN. Tatum averaged 16.8 PPG 7.3 RPG 2.1 APG shot 45% from the field, and 34% from 3PT range, Tatum is 6’8″ and 205 LB.

For most of this off-season, Celtics fans were in love with Washington guard Markelle Fultz, Danny of course pulled a Danny move and traded the top pick for more picks. Guess you can’t draft a bust if you keep trading for more picks…

Tatum would fit nice in Boston, the C’s were 23rd in the NBA in points in the paint per game. The Celtics were also 26th in the league in rebounding per game. Tatum would be able to score all over the floor, and with Boston’s back-court being ranked 2nd in the NBA in APG, Tatum would get the necessary touches to blossom early in his career. One of Tatum’s strengths is the ability to score in the post off the fade-away, and face-up. Tatum would be good for Boston to space the floor but they would not get the defensive prowess Josh Jackson brings.

Jackson averaged 16.3 PPG 7.4 RPG & 3.0 APG… pretty much the same type of player but Jackson is far better defensively. Tatum is still a good pick, but i just don’t get why Celtics fans are so afraid of Josh Jackson…
