Baby Driver Review

Directed by the brilliant mind of Edgar Wright, Baby Driver follows the story of Baby, played perfectly by Ansel Elgort. Baby is a getaway driver who finds himself in a really bad situation and along the way finds the love of his life.

This movie is stylish as shit. Baby has tinnitus in his ear from an accident he suffered as a child, so hear wears headphones and plays music almost all the time to drown out the ringing in his ears. The film uses this plot point brilliantly by utilizing an awesome soundtrack throughout, bringing a lot of heart to the film and intensity to the action sequences.

The car chases are brilliant, some of the best put to film. We are led to believe that Baby is the best in the business at what he does, and it shows.

The acting is great all around. There is not a single boring character in this flick. Everyone has a unique personality and is a blast to watch onscreen. Standouts were Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx.

The relationship between Baby and the girl he meets (played by Lily James) is sweet and charming.

If your asking for negatives, there aint much to choose from. Its fast-paced, which means there isn’t much down time to soak everything in, I dont see that as a bad thing, but some people may.

The climax while exciting and satisfying didn’t give me the emotional punch I think the film was hoping for.

Those are my only complaints really, this movie kicks ass.

Also bonus points for being original.

If you’re looking for a fun summer movie see this flick. From start to finish it was a blast. Slick dialogue and great action ensure that there is not a dull moment to be had.

Final verdict: 9/10
