‘The Walking Dead’ Stuntman Dies After a Tragic On-Set Accident

Stuntman John Bernecker has died from injuries sustained from a fall while performing a stunt for the upcoming eighth season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” He was 33.

He reportedly fell off a 25 foot balcony and landed on a concrete floor. He was transported to a hospital in Atlanta. Bernecker was in the intensive care unit where he was pronounced brain dead and was taken off ventilators.

AMC released the following statement:

“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for ‘The Walking Dead’ and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Bernecker has a total of 92 movies and TV shows that he is accredited for on IMDB, including work in films, “22 Jump Street,” The Hunger Games,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Logan,” “Fate of the Furious,” and the unreleased “Black Panther.”
