Heading into the fantasy season, many team owners are scrambling around trying to figure out who they will draft. Everybody usually has an idea who they will take in the early to middle rounds, but what about the late rounds? Are there any players flying under the radar?
Yes there is, and it is Jacquizz Rodgers. He is the biggest bargain I have seen in my years of fantasy. Per Matthew Berry of ESPN, “Going as RB53 in the 15th round on ESPN.” Since Doug Martin is out the first four weeks from suspension it looks like he is the man to pick up in the later rounds. He will most likely start in Martin’s absence and there is no guarantee Martin will get the starting job back. Rodgers looked good at the end of last season when he took over for the hurt Martin and Sims. He is a sneaky good player and I can say he saved me last year from a playoff elimination. When Rodgers took over and started, he first got 12.9 fantasy points on 30 attempts and 101 yards. Then 16.9 and 13.8 fantasy points the next two weeks that he started. Almost every game he started he scored double digit fantasy points. The only game he didn’t was in his last game and he only got 17 touches and still managed 75 yards. The only issue with him is that they could start to be a pass heavy offense. Winston now has the options of Mike Evans and Desean Jackson. His reps will go down but he is still a good option for when Martin is out.
