This is the first year in a few years that I did not get a chance to make it to Lolla and I missed out. I am late to the party on Vic Mensa. I have always seen his name pop up on features, but I am a snob when it comes to hip-hop artists. In my late twenties now, I have found most music corny. I stick to listening to old music; it reminds me of that line in the Jay-Z’s album, “If you want my old music buy my old albums”. I stick to old music, but sometimes you listen to something on accident and you are hooked. Last year, Coloring Book was on repeat. This year it might be Vic Mensa’s, The Autobiography. This album is very well put together and it speaks to me. I have to say it is a must listen and do not be like me. From what I heard on the Breakfast Club, Vic and Chance had a little issue; but I saw that they shared the stage as two voices for the city of Chicago at Lollapalooza. It was great to see them together.
P.S. – When I saw Vic had features from WEEZER, The Dream, and Pharrell on his album; I knew it would be…dare I Say a Classic? IT IS A MUST PEEP ALBUM.
