During the offseason Bill Belichick pulled off a trade which brought young talented wide receiver Brandin Cooks to New England. He was pretty good with Drew Brees and the Saints but so far with Tom Brady and the Patriots he has be an absolute star. During training camp he and Brady have connected and have built up a nice chemistry. Then came the full pads and joint practices with the Jaguars. In the scrimmage with the Jags Cooks was making catches left and right. He broke some ankles and caught a pass with one hand. A Jaguars cornerback said after the practice that their game plan was to stop Cooks and to not let him run the post pattern but he was just too fast for them. He was catching some bombs from Brady as he was just streaking wide open in the middle of the field. He was outstanding the first day of joint practices.
The next day even more fans piled into the practice field even though it was a rainy and just a crappy day to see these practices. This day there was more one on ones rather than a scrimmage. During these Cooks once again dazzled catching passes all over the field and pretty much always getting open. Then in the red zone, one might think that since he is kind of undersized that he wouldn’t be too valuable there, but he was. He was catching one handed fade balls and he was toe tapping in the back of the end zone to make the catches. Then he shook free and ran towards the goal post and made a nice over the shoulder catch. Him and Brady seem to be on the same page together and this could be the most dangerous offense in the league. The question is, is this offense going to put up numbers like 2007?
