You heard me. Whether you like it or not, Calvin Ridley is the best receiver in college football and I don’t think its even close competition. Calvin Ridley is a 6’1 speed wide receiver playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ridley is a complete playmaker with the ball in his hands. He can do it all and has all the intangibles that a team could want in any player. Whether it is the opening drive or the some of the final plays in a game, you can rely on Ridley to make the big catch. He is best when going deep because he is the biggest deep threat in college and one of the fastest players in the nation, but if you toss him a screen or a slant, don’t think he’s not going anywhere, because he has some of the best cuts and moves of any player overall.
Ridley gets the respect from his teammates as well, which is huge. He had his best season when he was playing alongside now-NFL star Amari Cooper. At the time, Cooper was the best receiver in the nation and was always getting targeted, but Ridley still managed to put up over 1,000 yards and 7 TDs. Last season with fewer targets, a true freshman at quarterback, and playing in more of a run first offense, Calvin Ridley was still outstanding. Even with all of that, he put up great numbers, with over 700 yards and 7 TDs.
Ridley came into this season ready to show people how good he really is, and in the first game of the season against the Florida State Seminoles, he came to play. Ridley torched what is probably the best secondary in the nation consisting of players like Derwin James and Tarvarus McFadden. He had seven receptions for 82 yards and a TD. He just showed that he can take the top off of any defense, no matter who’s on it. So with all that you can agree that he is the best. Oh, and by the way, Ridley gets two feet in, unlike other college stars. I expect him to have the best season he has had yet.
