After Notre Dame’s heartbreaking one-point loss to Georgia, the Irish move onto Boston to take on the Eagles of Boston College. Just one week after the Notre Dame offense amassed a total of 266 yards of offense in a poor offensive performance, I expect they’ll come out hot this weekend. The Irish offensive line should have no problem with the defensive front of Boston College, however I feel like I’ve said that before. I think I said it in 2015 when the Irish played the Eagles and only ended up winning by 3, 19-16.
If the offensive line is capable of doing what they did against Temple, Adams and hopefully Dexter Williams will have a big game with contributions from Wimbush in the run game. This BC team gave up 158 yards on the ground to Wake Forest and the Irish run game is way better than Wake’s.
Wimbush has a lot to prove this week after a poor performance last week. I don’t think his job is on the line, however, expect him to come out and play like it is. He’s had a couple games under his belt including a primetime game with Georgia, so I expect his jitters to be less of a factor and I think he will improve in the pass game this week. With EQ out wide against a poor Boston College secondary, I would think Notre Dame will be able to take the top of the D and air out. This offense will come out strong and put on another display against a struggling defense. At least, I hope so.
On the defensive side of the ball, I expect the Irish to dominate this game. They held a good Georgia offense in check and to only 20 points, and let’s be honest, this Boston College offense is not nearly as good as Georgia’s. BC amassed a total of 305 offensive yards last week, and with this defense, expect that number to be lower this week. The defense proved themselves last week, and I expect them to continue to be a strong part of this Notre Dame team.
Brian Kelly continues to be on the hot seat, in my opinion, and a blowout win against the Eagles and Steve Addazio could add some heat for him, but we’re still waiting for that big-time win.
The spread for this game is ND -13, and with a matchup predictor predicting Notre Dame has a 88% chance to win this game, I would bet on it, using My Bookie, of course. Use the code “WTP” when you sign up and get a 100% bonus on your first deposit!
I pick Notre Dame to win this one, 24-10.
