Elon Musk Wants to Replace Airplanes with Rockets

Elon Musk is known in the tech world as the man who shoots for the moon. Well, technically Mars but whatever. So when he says that he wants to make rocket travel the new way to fly, I believe that he’ll actually make it happen eventually.

Earth-to-Earth travel, as he’s calling it, will enable you to fly across the globe in less than an hour. Imagine being able to jet off to China for real Chinese food and be home in time to watch the football game. Or see your friends and family who live on the other side of the world whenever you want. The idea is science-fiction level insanity, proving that we’re finally headed towards a Back to the Future 2-esque world.

Of course, it’s not all sunshine and roses. A venture like this will cost billions, disrupt the travel industry, require new legislation and regulation, and change our world forever. It could also set off a new Cold War of sorts. Compared to regular air travel, a rocket is practically the speed of light. It’s an insanely powerful idea. If America has the ability to fly anywhere in the world in under an hour, you know that other countries are going to really feel the heat. We raced Russia to the moon; I’m sure we’re not the only country trying to fly fast and furiously.

My first job out of college was at Tesla, and I can tell you that Musk’s inventions are no joke. Autopilot is the shit, and if I could afford to buy a luxury vehicle without selling a kidney, the only one I’d ever buy is a Tesla. Musk works hard, and never stops innovating, which is why the final products are incredible. Not only that, he believes in and bets on himself because he knows he has the power to make this world a better place. I have no doubt that he’ll get us going around the world like it’s no big deal.

So maybe in the near future, I can go home to Israel whenever I want. The future is now, folks, and it sounds pretty exciting. I just hope he can find a cure for jet lag while he’s at it.
