Views of the NFL From The 603: Week 4

A quarter of the way through the season, this Patriots team is not what anyone expected. In the offseason, all we thought about was 16-0, best team ever, great defense, 28-3, Madden goat edition, blah, blah, blah. I was even so foolish as to say, ‘wake me up in January when the Patriots are in the AFC championship,’ but I do not feel so great about that now.

I still think the Patriots will figure it out, but the new issue is, the AFC might have some strong contenders. If the Patriots have to go on the road in the playoffs to either Denver or Kansas City to get to the championship, I do not like their odds. But it’s still Week 4, and there’s time to fix this; I just don’t feel as confident as I did in the preseason.

At this moment, the Chiefs look like they are the most complete team, but I still can’t trust Alex Smith in a big game. The Steelers bounced back this week and look like a legit team, and the Broncos once again showed why they, and not Seattle, have the best Defense in the league. The Patriots will get to play the Steelers and Broncos this season, so we can see how they stack up.

It’s a short week, and Patriots will be back out there in two days. Let’s hope Mike Evans and Desean Jackson don’t hang 40 on this defense. The NFC has some surprising teams off to strong starts as well: the Rams, Lions, Panthers, and Eagles all lead their division. We still have a long way to go, but it will be interesting to see which of those 4 teams stick around.

PS: WE STICK TO SPORTS ON THIS SITE, BUT THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FOR MY FAVORITE CITY IN THE WORLD, IF YOUVE NEVER BEEN IT’S AN ADULT DISNEYLAND. I WILL BE IN VEGAS IN 3 WEEKS; I CAN’T IMAGINE WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH.
