Coming off a poor performance defensively where they literally just shit the bed, I fully expect the Patriots to bounce back on Thursday Night Football against the Buccaneers.
The Patriots offense is, of course, not the area of concern heading into the fifth game of the season. The offense is averaging 32.5 points per game this season and miraculously sitting at 2-2 with that stat. Tom Brady has played out of his mind, especially for a 40-year-old. He has a QB rating of 116.6 and has thrown for 1,399 yards so far this season with 10 touchdown passes to 0 interceptions, completing 66% of his passes. Chris Hogan has stepped up to be arguably the number one receiver on this offense (besides Gronk, because he is a tight end) catching 15 passes for 214 yards but already has 4 receiving touchdowns this year.
Obviously, the real area of concern is defense. This defense has allowed 30+ points in 3 of its first four games this season, including 42 in Game 1 against the Chiefs. In the last game, Tom Brady drove down the field to tie the game at 30 with another comeback only for the defense to give up a game winning drive to end the game. They allowed 444 yards last game and somehow that HELPED their season average. Yes, that is pathetic. Stephon Gilmore seems to be a liability on the field and hasn’t played up to his bazillion dollar contract he was awarded this off-season. The defensive secondary as a whole has not played well at all this season.
With all of that said, I firmly believe this team will still rise up and have a great year potentially ending in a Super Bowl win if the defense figures it out. A friendly reminder for you is that the Patriots started 2014 2-2 as well with an ass whooping from the Chiefs and went on to win the Super Bowl. The road back to being great will begin on Thursday with their game against the Bucs.
This Bucs offense has failed to score 30 or more points in every game this season including a match-up with the Bears. This defense will have a chance to come out and make a statement against the Bucs offense which will also give them a boost of confidence going forward in this NFL season. I expect the Pats offense will continue to do what they do best as well as Tom Brady and pile on the points in this game which will inevitably give them the win in the one.
The Patriots will win this game in my opinion and bounce back. Take it to the bank, or MyBookie and get you some money while you watch the Patriots destroy the Bucs. I have the Pats winning with a score of somewhere around 35-17.
