Bruins Open the Season up With a Dub

NHL hockey is back and for me personally, it is one of the greatest times of the year. The Red Sox are in the playoffs (we won’t even talk about how that went), the Patriots are in full swing, now we have Bruins hockey back too, and there is no better way to welcome the Bruins season back than with a dub.

There was a lot of speculation around this Bruins team, and a lot of people were wondering how good they would really be this year with their core guys getting older. The key for the Bruins would be to get some great play from the younger guys and that is exactly what they got tonight. David Pastrňák scored the first Bruins goal of the season 8:37 into this game to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

David Pastrňák scored the first Bruins goal of the season 8:37 into this game to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Nashville would come back and tie late, and I mean really late, in the first period with a goal from Viktor Arvidsson.

The Bruins came out strong in the second period, opening this game up. The first goal of the period was scored by one of the newest Bruins in Jake DeBrusk who many thought wouldn’t even make this roster. He shut the haters up real quick. Anders Bjork got his first NHL point on DeBrusk’s goal for an assist. That gave the B’s a 2-1 lead and the lead would get larger after Chucky Mac & Cheese, Charlie McAvoy scored one for the Bruins on an assist from Krejci and DeBrusk to give the Bruins a two-goal lead at 3-1.

Brad Marchand would score late in the third period on a short-handed goal to put the Bruins up 4-1 and thank God he did because the Predators came storming back and made this way more interesting than it should have been. Nashville would get two goals late in the third period from Scott Hartnell and Filip Forsberg both stemming from power plays. That made the score 4-3 and that would end up being the final in this one. Bruins win 4-3 although it shouldn’t have even been that close.

Rask made 26 saves for the Bruins tonight and got a win to start the season out. David Krejci had 3 points on the night all from assists. DeBrusk would total 2 points tonight with one goal and one assist. McAvoy would also total 2 points tonight with one goal and one assist. Seven Bruins players would pick up points in this game tonight.

The Bruins got the first one out of the way and start the season 1-0
