Views of the NFL from the 603: Week 7

You never can predict what will happen in this league, especially not with this Patriots team. If I wasn’t going to Vegas this week, I would have placed a little wager on this game and would have smashed the OVER! Who would have thought that this game would be such a low-scoring game, and also such a dominant game from the Patriots in all three phases of the game?

As soon as Matt Bryant got that Field Goal blocked, you knew the Falcons were in for a long night. Each time the camera zoomed in on Matt Ryan’s face, he looked like a scared child (Don’t give me that MATTY ICE CRAP THAT SHIT ENDED A LONG TIME AGO) living his worst nightmare: being back in the Super Bowl with Dont’a Hightower about to come and sack him again.

The defense for the third straight week stepped up. Since the Tampa game, (with Gilmore) this defense has looked better. Yes, they gave up the yards, but it has started to come together. This week we even saw the corpse of David Harris come back to life; I thought he was a week away from getting cut, but he made some solid tackles.

I think this team is slowly improving and that is obviously what we want. You do not want to peak too early, like the Chiefs in Week 4; we want this team getting better week in and week out, so that by Thanksgiving and beyond they are ready to make a run. Speaking of the Chiefs it seems that they have come back to the pack, and they look like just another team. No matter what their record was, I still could not bring my self to worry about Alex Smith.

The Steelers, on the other hand, are a whole other story. I am worried about that defense; they have had some hiccups along the way, but it seems that they are taking the approach of playing through Bell and having their defense shut teams down. When they play the Patriots in Week 15, it might be for home field.

The NFC has so many teams who are playing well. I think the Eagles are the most impressive of the bunch so far, but don’t sleep on the Rams. The Rams should have beat the Seahawks a few weeks back when they played, and I believe they will be there all year and might even sneak into a wild card. Next up, Chargers hope to see the Defense step up again. My clown self wrote off Phillip Rivers, so watch him come in here and throw 5 TDS and make me look foolish, but hey, last week is over…. NEW WEEK, NEW FUCKING HOPE.

PS: THAT FOG SUNDAY NIGHT WAS AWFUL, I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY KEPT SWITCHING VIEWS AND SHOWING THAT FOG. THE SKY HIGH VIEW LOOKED LIKE NFL2k SOME OF YOU YOUNG KIDS MIGHT NOT KNOW WHAT IS BUT IT WAS THE BEST VIEW I HOPE THE NFL USES THAT VIEW MORE OFTEN ITS A GREAT WAY TO SEE THE GAME
