RGIII Returns to the NFL

It came out earlier today that the once-okay QB Robert Griffin the Third will make his return to the NFL after signing a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

RGIII hasn’t played in the NFL for over a year, but some people aren’t so quick to forget the fact that he was the last QB to win a game for the Cleveland Browns, which in some respect is probably why the Baltimore Ravens even considered giving him a chance. Although it is rumored that the Ravens wanted to sign him last year but couldn’t get anything done.

In his first year in the league, RGIII took the NFL by storm winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2012 along with being selected to the Pro Bowl that same year throwing for 3,200 yards, 20 TDs, and only 5 INTs. After that year though, it was pretty much all downhill. RGIII would then battle injuries the rest of his time in the NFL, never playing a full season again. Since his first year in the league, RGIII has gone 6-19 as a starting quarterback throwing 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. That again could be because he was always hurt, which leads me to think that the Ravens will keep a spot on the IR open just for him.

I don’t wish any bodily harm on any player but if we’re looking at track records, it’s hard for him to stay healthy. With that said, I wish him nothing but best in his return.

Maybe RGIII has even paved the way for Johnny Manziel and Kap to make a return to the NFL. If not, there will be a national outcry again on why Kap isn’t in the NFL and to be honest, if you’re signing RGIII, Kap should be in the NFL.
