Could This Be Tom Brady’s Last Season?

Tom Brady is apparently thinking the end may be coming sooner than we previously thought. He revealed to Oprah Winfrey, in a special that will air today at 11:00 AM EST on the OWN Network, “I think about it more now than I used to. I think I’m seeing there’s definitely an end coming sooner, rather than later.”

This will probably send all of Patriots Nation into a panic, and it probably should. If Brady were to retire at the end of this season, the Patriots are left without a replacement, and Brady will have duped them into thinking he was staying long term. Because, make no mistake, not even the biggest Brady fan would agree to trade who knows how many years with Jimmy G. for one season with Brady. You have to assume that assurances were made that he was planning on playing at least three more seasons before they decided to trade Jimmy last season. Not doing so would’ve been incredibly irresponsible.

Tom Brady is the best player in the history of the NFL, and has led the Patriots to five Super Bowl wins. I will be forever grateful for what he has done for my favorite team. With that being said, what he is doing right now is incredibly selfish. I understand he is 41 years old. I also remember that he wanted to play to at least 45. Ask yourself one question, if this was last offseason, with Jimmy G. going into the final year of his contract, do you think Brady would’ve done any of what he has this offseason? Skipping OTAs and allowing Jimmy to run with the first team? I don’t care if it was just in shorts and t-shirts, there’s a better chance of Chrissy Teigen leaving John Legend for Donald Trump than that happening. Also, would he be saying he’s going to retire “sooner rather than later?” Not a chance in hell. That would make the Patriots decision at the end of the year simple. Move on to Jimmy and trade Brady to the highest bidder.

We’ve also been hearing all about how Brady wants an extension this offseason, and now he’s saying he may not play for that much longer? So which one is it? Is he playing for five more years, which is when you want to be extended until, or is he leaving sooner? Brady is sending more mixed signals than a teenage girl right now, and it’s driving me nuts.

I’m done with the interviews, the documentaries, and the leaks. I wish I had a time machine that could take me to the season so we wouldn’t have to listen to all this crap. Unfortunately, Einstein theorized that, as you move closer to the speed of light, the pressure will be too great and you will die, and so we can’t time travel until we figure a way around that problem. That means it looks like it’s going to be a long summer for Patriots fans. Buckle up and hold on tight, I can already tell I’m not going to like the ride.

Good grief. Every season we are posed with this question. Eventually you’re going to be right. He’s played 18 seasons and has 4 left before he turns 45. He hasn’t gotten the extension yet, so maybe he feels like he isn’t going to get one, and the end is coming sooner rather than later than he wants. Maybe he doesn’t want to play for any other team in the league. This article just feeds into the cesspool of nay sayers and malarkey that surrounds him and the Patriots every year. Know that TB12 wants to retire with as many Superbowl rings as he can earn, and leave the team poised for another with a well groomed replacement when he does retire. Stop getting riled up over something that hasn’t happened yet.
