Game: Seattle Mariners at Boston Red Sox
Date: June 22nd, 2018
Time: 7:10pm ET , 9mph winds blowing S (right to left)
Line: Red Sox -140 / Mariners +120 (via WTPsportsbook)
Probables: (BOS) Steven Wright (1-1 1.23 ERA)
(SEA) Wade LeBlanc (3-0 2.06 ERA)
Preview: The Seattle Mariners (46-29, 21-15 road) come into Fenway Park for the first of a three-game set against the Boston Red Sox (50-26, 23-11 home) tonight. These two teams are very familiar with each other after splitting a four-game series just last weekend in Seattle where Wright and LeBlanc faced each other.
In that game there was some tremendous pitching between the two with Wright going seven strong, allowing one run on five hits – but LeBlanc was even better, going seven and two-thirds allowing two hits and no runs and getting the win (1-0 final). If you like pitchers duels this was a perfect game for you as both pitchers had it going and one run was enough to get the W.
Prediction: Both of these teams offenses are struggling lately with each team struggling to knock runs in – especially with runners in scoring position. Both pitchers are also coming in red hot, with LeBlanc having a 3-0 record and 2.06 ERA in nine starts this season and Wright coming in 2-1 with a 0.44 ERA in his last three starts, never allowing more than one run in each start!
The under is 3-0 in Wright’s last three starts and 1-1 in LeBlanc’s last three for a combined 4-1, making this the only pick I like tonight:
Mariners/Red Sox under 9.5
