At long last, the wait is over. After much careful consideration, I have finally decided which team I will hate for the 2018-2019 NBA season. There are many factors that went into this decision, but I finally feel as though I’m ready to channel my hatred to one team in particular. Next NBA season, I will be taking my hatred to Los Angeles to hate the Lakers.
For no reason, in particular, I just decided that I absolutely despise the Lakers. As a Boston Celtics fan, you’d think it would be due to some lingering rivalry sentiments, right? Well, you’d be wrong. I really don’t know what happened, but I all of a sudden started hating the LA Lakers. On the flip side, I stopped hating the Cleveland Cavaliers, and am even rooting for them to do well this year. How strange.
I’m by no means a fan of basketball. It’s a well-known fact that I’m one of the worst basketball players in the history of youth basketball. In middle school, and this is a real fact, I shot 14% from the free throw line. There was something about putting the ball into the hoop that I just couldn’t figure out how to do. HOWEVER, that doesn’t disqualify me from watching basketball and making judgments on which teams I love and hate.
This was not an easy decision to make. It was equal parts internal debate, scientific research, an epiphany. After a while though, I just knew that this was the team I was destined to hate for the upcoming NBA season. It’s easy to hate Lavar Ball and his whole shtick, and it makes sense that I would root against young, cocky players like Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Kyle Kuzma. It just makes sense now.
HOLD ON, news just broke that Lebron James just signed with the LA Lakers. Would you look at that! What a coincidence. The player I hate most in the world (in any sport) just signed with the team that I recently decided to hate for no reason. Incredible how the world works.
So there you have it, folks. I will officially be taking my hatred to Los Angeles and be hating the Lakers next season. Thank you for your time.
