The CJ McCollum and Kevin Durant Situation…

The Warriors just can’t seem to stay out of the news this summer, can they? First they signed DeMarcus Cousins to make the NBA basically pointless now, and now Kevin Durant has gone after CJ McCollum and the Blazers after CJ attacked Boogie on his podcast, “Pull Up With CJ McCollum.”

The conversation began fairly tame and escalated quickly when CJ said “he was hot” over Cousins joining the already unbeatable Warriors. Prior to this issue, CJ has voiced his displeasure with Durant’s decision to join the Warriors in 2016. Durant’s response to CJ was, “You know you’re not going to win a championship anyway.”

After the interview, CJ took to Twitter and had this to say:

To which Durant responded:

While I do agree with CJ on the fact that Durant and Cousins are soft for joining the Warriors to get a ring, I don’t agree with the analogy in any way whatsoever, and it was a poor way to wrap up a great argument.

Another issue I have with this whole situation is the fact that Kevin Durant said nothing wrong at all. He said what everyone knew, that nobody is winning the title besides the Warriors for at least this season, and likely a few seasons after that. It was quite funny that KD is calling other people snakes, but that’s beside the point. CJ has no room to talk right now because he and Damian Lillard haven’t been able to win together. I do like that CJ tried to recruit Boogie to the Blazers, and I think that if he went to either the Blazers or Rockets, the West would be a completely different story.

The fact is, the Warriors are winning at least the next Finals, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. So my advice to CJ McCollum and the rest of the NBA is this; don’t talk crap to the back-to-back Champs who will more than likely end up three-peating. Once you beat them, talk all you want, but until then, shut up, grind it out, and work until you can beat them.

Just so everyone knows, both CJ and KD have cleared the air saying they have no real issues and are great friends and haven’t been affected by their “scuffle.”
