ASTROWORLD: My Planet My Home

A week ago, “Cactus Jack,” “La Flame,” Travis Scott finally dropped AstroWorld. Fans have been seeing ads for this album for over a year now. Not only did Travis Scott tease it back in 2017, he dropped a song that is on the album itself. ‘BUTTERFLY EFFECT’ was the first song released to tease and promote “AstroWorld.” Travis Scott teamed up with Murda Beatz to make this absolute banger and it didn’t stop there. A few months ago, Travis Scott teamed up with Lil Uzi Vert and Kanye West and dropped ‘Watch.’ Although “Watch” does not appear on the album, the cover of the single is a drawing of what Travis Scott envisioned “AstroWorld” would look like. Months later, fans were finally blessed with the album.

Travis Scott shows us a different side of him in this album. On most of his songs in the past, Travis made music you would hear in clubs or college dorm parties. This album has that in the beats, but the lyrics that “Cactus Jack,” gives us are very eye-opening. Only real Travis Scott fans know that he has very good lyrics when they saw him absolutely eat his freshmen freestyle in 2013. Travis told fans that he was going to actually rap in this album, and he does. Songs like “SICKO MODE”, “SKELETONS”, and “YOSEMITE”, we get a taste of the bars that Travis really has. “La Flame” also shows us some of his soft side in the song “WAKE UP,” when he works with The Weekend on a low-key love song.

Travis has quite a few features on this album as well. Big names helped Travis make this album. Drake, NAV, Gunna, Frank Ocean, The Weekend, 21 Savage, Swae Lee, Juice WRLD, Pharrell, Quavo, Takeoff and even John Mayer are some of the biggest lyricists on this album. Travis put a lot of time into this album and told fans he wanted it to be “Absolutely perfect”.

The album itself is very good. Travis did everything he said he was going to do. He brought lyrics, beats, names and a whole lot of talent with this one. This is an album that has not many, if any songs that you would want to skip. Want to party? ASTROWORLD. Want to forget about your day? ASTROWORLD. Want to get hyped for the weekend? ASTROWORLD.

The album will get a 9.2/10. It’s very hard to get close to Drake’s “Scorpion,” but Travis Scott definitely has one of the best albums of this summer.
