If you’re looking for someone who can take over a game, shoot lights out, play solid defense, hit all of his free throws, and deliver in the clutch… Kevin Durant is your guy.

In last night’s win over the Orlando Magic, Durant proved yet again why he’s the best player in the NBA. He scored 49 points on 16-33 shooting and hit all 13 of his free throw attempts. Free throws, lest we forget, are uncontested shots taken 15 feet from the hoop following a foul. If you’re a great player, you hit most of them.
This performance wasn’t a fluke, either. In fact, it was Durant’s second straight game with over 40 points. It has never been a secret that KD is the league’s best pure scorer, but he showed some true toughness these past few games. With superstar point guard Steph Curry sidelined due to an injury, Durant had no choice but to step up. That’s what great players do.
When it’s crunch time, you want the ball in KD’s hands. He gets fouled? Automatic. Need a clutch three? Draino. Need someone to summon an army of self-run Twitter-eggs to defend against online slander? There’s simply no one better.
To be honest, I don’t even know why I’m writing this right now. It’s 2:00AM and I’m just reiterating what everyone already knows. Oh well, I guess I just can’t help but tip my cap when the best player in the NBA drops back-to-back 40 pieces.
