Some MLB Thanksgiving Nuggets We Still Need to Digest

Hello everyone. I hope you all made it out of Thanksgiving weekend alive and intact. My waistline sure didn’t. Also, does everyone’s dad wake them up when they’re passed out on the couch just to ask them if they were indeed sleeping? Asking for a friend. Anyway, here are my thoughts on some baseball tidbits that happened over the holiday weekend.

  • The Mets haven’t ruled out signing Bryce Harper………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Sorry about that. I was laughing so hard I passed out on the period key.
  • Staying in New York, the Yankees are talking about an Ellsbury for Cano swap. Sure, that makes sense. New York is going to add Cano to play first by getting rid of a guy that’s always hurt and then they’ll sign Machado because they’re the Yankees. That middle of the lineup is going to be some order of Machado, Judge, Stanton, Cano, and Sanchez. Maybe that will be enough to beat the Red Sox. Maybe.
  • Donaldson signed a one-year deal with the Braves while I was writing this, so that’s something. I’ll be interested to see how he fares without the luxury of the DH to give him some days off from the field. Durability has been his bugaboo the last couple of years. It’s still a nice veteran presence for the young Braves, though. Also, Brian McCann signed with the Braves. Yay, old people!
  • The Astros have been floating the idea of adding A.J. Pollack via free agency and Paul Goldschmidt via trade. It would be cool to see Goldschmidt get a chance at a ring, but Pollack’s athleticism in that lineup is scarier to me than Goldschmidt’s bat. Either way, the three wagons of the Red Sox, Yankees, and Astros are still somehow pulling away from the rest of the league.
  • The Phillies have decided that they are interested in every free agent on the market. That’s cool. I’m looking forward to Philadelphia exciting their fan base and subsequently letting them down after they fail to sign any of the big names they’re linked to.

I hope you weren’t looking for anything too analytical. I’m getting back in the swing of things just like the rest of you guys, so cut me some slack. Also, it’s gift buying and gift-giving time, so I’m sure the boss would love for you guys to BUY SOME MERCH. Perhaps my good friend Matthew McConaughey can convince you if don’t feel like buying.
