Martavis Bryant Couldn’t Stay Off The Damn Weeeeed-DUH

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Martavis Bryant got suspended.

In the offseason, the Raiders traded a third-round pick to the Steelers for the 26-year-old wide receiver, which puzzled most analysts. Bryant was certainly known as a talented receiver but struggled to remain on the field. He had been suspended two times before for substance abuse issues, once for the entirety of the 2016 season,.

Bryant struggled in camp for the Raiders early on, with head coach Jon Gruden openly criticizing his effort in practice on multiple occasions. In fact, Bryant was cut by the team before the season had even begun.

After being released, Bryant picked up his third substance abuse violation and was threatened to be suspended for another entire season. However, thanks to Bryant’s appeal, he was able to play through the process and the Raiders quickly re-signed him a week and a half later. You would think that during his time on the hot seat that Bryant would ball out, figuring that he had one last gasp before the hammer came down on him.

And that’s where you would be wrong.

Bryant played in only 8 games, caught 19 passes for 266 yards, and was placed on IR due to some chronic (no pun intended) knee issues on December 1st.

Two weeks later, his year-long suspension was upheld.

I’m not here to make fun of a guy who may have an addiction issue or mental health problems that he has to sort out, and it’s perfectly plausible that he could come back in 2021 and be the greatest wideout that we’ve ever seen. We saw what happened to Josh Gordon when he was put in a stable environment.

For now, though, what an idiot?

Martavis Bryant is a guy with all the talent in the world, that’s undeniable. But this dumbo has shown at every turn that he doesn’t give one iota of a fuck about the game of football. How do you get caught up for smoking weed three separate times???? If that’s all you want to do, forget playing sports, go live with Ricky Williams. He’s living life right now.

At least Josh Gordon checked himself into rehab to straighten himself out.

This dude just doesn’t care.

Also, this is coming from someone who rooted for him back in the day. I was the biggest Martavis Bryant supported during his early days in Pittsburgh, and even back at Clemson. I thought he and Antonio Brown were going to be one of the best WR duos of this generation. But life sucks a fat one sometimes. Maybe I harbor some extra personal resentment towards Bryant because I used to stick up for him, or maybe I’m just a rational person who sees an idiot throwing away his career and it pisses me off.

Martavis Bryant will go down in history as one of the biggest wastes of talent to ever step on a football field. Pencil him in right next to Aldon Smith, Justin Blackmon, Aaron Hernandez, and Lawrence Phillips.

Guy’s a colossal bum.
