Bruins Lose 2 in a Row

The Bruins last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets was not one to remember and in a 7-4 loss the Bruins couldn’t protect the puck.

It was a sloppy showing for the Bruins as the Blue Jackets exploded for 7 goals and the defense and Rask didn’t look good. Rask had to get yanked after he allowed 5 goals but some of these you can’t pin on him. Torey Krug had a -4 in the game and actually was facing the net instead of the game on one of the goals.

This game was rough for the whole team as they continue to go down by two goals to playoff caliber teams and try and fight back. That is going to work against teams like the Senators or the Panthers but not against actual playoffs teams so Bruce Cassidy needs to get that trend out the door.

Now the Bruins do deserve a lot of credit to fight from 4 goals down to make it a 1 goal game entering the 3rd. This team fought and scraped their way back with 2 goals from Brad Marchand but ended up falling short in the 3rd. With those 2 goals Marchand eclipsed another 30 goal season and it is his 4th consecutive season with 30+ goals. This team showed a lot of heart in the loss and it showed us that even when they aren’t playing well they can still compete but they can’t be having games like this against playoff caliber teams. Granted, for the Bruins they are banged up right now with an injury list containing David Pastrnak, Marcus Johansson, Kevan Miller, Jake Debrusk and Matt Grzelcyk they need to get healthy because in about a month the real games begin.

The Bruins are basically a lock to face the Maple Leafs in the playoffs so what they need to do is to keep their lead over them and to get healthy. If this Bruins team can get healthy then they could have a shot to beat Tampa.
