Holy Fucking Shit everybody, what a couple days for the Cleveland Browns. First, they bolstered their front seven with the additions of DE Olivier Vernon and DT Sheldon Richardson. That alone was a huge step forward for one of the NFL’s most exciting teams. But they also saw their biggest rivals in the AFC North fall apart at the seams. The Pittsburgh Steelers shipped of superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown for pennies on the dollar and the Baltimore Ravens lost half of their top-ranked defense.
That alone would have been enough to make the Browns the favorites for the division. Then all of a sudden, Browns GM laid his nuts on the table and did this:

Hot Diggity Damn. Things are getting hot in Cleveland, and it’s not just their flaming rivers. Odell steps into a receiving corps that already boasted Pro-Bowler Jarvis Landry, giving the Browns two top-ten receivers. Add an electric talent under center in Baker Mayfield and the criminally slept on Nick Chubb at running back and you’ve got an elite offense brewing. In fact, there isn’t a defense left in the AFC capable of slowing them down.
The ransom the Browns gave up is certainly significant though. Franchises can’t go around trading first-round picks and expect to sustain success, but the Browns clearly feel they are in a position to win now. The lose of Jabrill Peppers is going to hurt on the back end, but don’t be surprised if the Browns use their $100M+ in cap room to bring in Earl Thomas.
If they do, the Brownies might just be the team to beat in the AFC.
