March 19th, 2018: a day that shall live in infamy. The first full trailer for Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” was released and Mike Trout signed the biggest contract in professional sports history. But, mostly, it’s because of the “Toy Story” trailer.
Alright! We knew that Bo Peep would be back, but in this trailer we get an extended look at her, and she’s changed. She’s shinier with a new outfit and a new attitude. It definitely takes her old squeeze Woody by surprise and it has me SUSPICIOUS! We don’t have a real villain yet, so I’m convinced she’ll be a problem in one way or the other.
We also get a nice look at Forkie who looks funnyish but we’ll have to see how he develops as a character. Overall, the trailer has a couple of funny lines, but I can’t help but be a little choked up for the whole thing. It’s supposedly the last of the “Toy Story” films being made, and I don’t know about you, but these films have been something I’ve gained a lot of joy from as a child and an adult.
The line that has me really worried in the trailer is when Woody says, “I was made to help a child. I don’t remember it being this hard.” That feels too grown up for me. It convinces me that something is going to be in this film that makes me cry…maybe a couple things…maybe I’ll just cry the whole film. I’m so convinced of this that I refuse to see this film with people I know. They don’t need to see that kind of ugly.
