Sharks Survive—And Why They’ll Win Game 7

The San Jose Sharks have stormed back from being down 3-1 and now go home for Game 7 of the series against the Vegas Golden Knights. Tomas Hertl scored a shorthanded goal in double overtime to force Game 7. Hertl had predicted the Sharks win game 6 and he scored to make true on his word to Sharks Nation.

Will the Sharks or Golden Knights advance in the Stanley Cup Playoff?

To me, I think the San Jose Sharks advance in this game because of a few things.

1. Momentum is in their favor after winning two in a row and after a soft goal given up by Marc-Andre Flury. I think we will see a side of him we haven’t seen in some time. If he crumbles like he did in Game 6 then the Knights don’t stand a chance. The Knights have relied heavily upon him in this series and all year. He has been solid but if that goal was a sign of things to come, it’s bad news for Knight fans.

2. San Jose’s defense is too deep: With a D core of Vlasic, Burns, and Karlsson how can this team lose? They have at least 2 franchise guys on their backend and should be able to keep it going. The only thing with these guys is that it’s tough to matchup with a lineup like Vegas. With a second line of Max Pacioretty, Mark Stone, and Paul Stastny they have played like a first line early on in this series but now that they have cooled off a bit it should be exciting to see how they match up

3. Martin Jones hasn’t played all that well this series but the only reason they won last game was because of his performance. He stood on his head and somehow held them to only one goal on 59 shots. The man had 58 saves. 58! That is unheard of and if he can keep it going like this then I don’t see how they could lose.
