Bruins dominance continues to the Stanley Cup Finals

For the first time since 2013 the Boston Bruins advance to the Stanley Cup Finals and in convincing fashion. The Bruins had beat the Carolina Hurricanes and entering the series they had beaten the Capitals and swept the Islanders. The Bruins ended the Hurricanes season by defeating them in 4 games.

Tuukka Rask was great yet again in these playoffs as he earned another shutout in an elimination game. He has stepped up big in these playoffs and has easily been the MVP of the playoffs so far. There was one save on Justin Williams where he didn’t even get in the butterfly position he just snagged the puck with his glove like it was nothing. He just has a confidence about him right now that we haven’t really seen from him. He is making saves look easy and when shots do make it to him he usually gobbles them up leaving no chance at a rebound.

The Bruins first line ended the Hurricanes last night as they were all over the ice in this game and you could see it from puck drop that these guys wanted to end the series right then. They combined on every goal on the ice and each player on that line scored a goal and Bergeron netted 2. They were getting robbed early in the game but they eventually found the net on the powerplay and then they didn’t stop there. They shut down Carolina’s top line and we didn’t see anything from the Aho line. Bergeron has shut down the top lines of every team they have faced these playoffs and he has shown why he deserves the Selke yet again.

The Bruins defense was amazing last night without Zdeno Chara as he sat out with an injury that was labeled day to day. The defense got the puck out of the zone fast last night and some of that has to do with the way Rask was playing the puck. He would go out and get the puck behind the net and that helped the defense clear the zone better than they have been. Now the team has time to get healthy which you could see some of them were wincing on the bench and could use some rest. The Bruins could end up facing the San Jose Sharks or the St. Louis Blues and both teams are teams that are going to be a tough out. Both have the talent to beat the Bruins, both have solid goaltending and defense too. If it’s the Sharks they end up playing that series would be the best thing for the NHL. Those regular season games were blood baths and would be the best series you could get. The Blues are also a great team and those regular season games were amazing as well. With Taresenko, Bennington, Parayko, and Petrangelo they have the players to win the cup and could be a scary team to face for the cup.

The Bruins have a chance to have 3 Boston championships in one year since Detriot did it in the ’30s. Let’s see if the Bruins can close out this amazing season by hoisting Lord Stanley’s cup.
