Report: Boston is the ‘Landing Spot for Anthony Davis,’ and New Orleans ‘Covets’ Jayson Tatum

Good morning NBA Twitter! Here’s yet another Anthony Davis rumor to start up your Friday morning:

There’s no surprise that the Boston Celtics are interested in making a deal for Anthony Davis. In fact, reports are saying that the Celtics would still target Davis even if Kyrie left (which I do not want to happen).

This source can be legit or not, but hearing that New Orleans covets Jayson Tatum the most out of any player they could get in return in a trade package doesn’t surprise me. I believe Tatum has more potential than Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Mitchell Robinson, and even RJ Barrett.

New Orleans wants to receive the best possible package in return for AD, and taking the player that they think will be a future superstar is a pretty good start. Putting Tatum alongside Zion Williamson can turn them into one of the best young duos in the NBA, if not the best.

The Pelicans taking Marcus Smart would add another young stud to their team who’s one of the best on-ball defenders in the entire league. People criminally underrate Marcus Smart because he doesn’t fill up the stat sheet. But NBA GMs know how valuable Marcus is, and making the NBA All-Defensive First Team helps show that.

You can take this source and trade package with a grain of salt, but this is an offer I thought was realistic and could push the Pelicans to finally trade away AD. Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Semi Ojeleye, pick #14, and Memphis’ top-6 protected 2020 pick is a realistic trade offer than can get the job done.

Not only can this trade bring Anthony Davis to Boston, but it also can convince Kyrie to re-sign with Boston and try to win a championship with Anthony Davis by his side. And not for nothing, if this is the trade that happens, we still get to keep Jaylen Brown.

If the Celtics get Anthony Davis, keep Jaylen Brown and re-sign Kyrie Irving, this would be a perfect offseason in my eyes, but I’m not believing anything until I see it. At the end of the day, I’ll be content whether we have the duo of Kyrie/AD or Jayson/Jaylen, but acquiring AD and re-signing Kyrie keeps us in contention for a championship.

Take all these reports with a grain of salt while I continue to write about them and cover each and every rumor that hits the Internet.
