This offseason was supposed to be The Fyre Festival of offseasons. Total chaos. Maybe a shit show. But definitely entertaining and something we might just make a Netflix documentary out of in like five years. Wellll, that hasn’t been the case. This has been a blatant repeat of last offseason. This offseason has had so little activity it went and asked us if we were still watching. It’s been slowwwwwwwwww.
Whit Merrifield signed a cool little extension. Good for him. He made an all star game last year, led baseball in stolen bases, and had an OPS of .806. I’d give that guy an extension too. Merrifield has also played at almost every position on the diamond in his career. He’s the type of player you want to keep around.
This was a proud dad moment here. I called 2021, but the I’ll take 2020. It makes a lot of sense. The Padres are loaded with prospects with very little money committed. Any slot they can’t fill with free agents and top prospects would be easily filled with a trade. The Padres are coming and my article I wrote in NOVEMBER tells how it’s possible… https://wtpsports.com/2018/11/18/the-san-diego-padres-are-the-2021-world-series-champions/
Not much after that. We had the Hall of Fame inductees, but that’s hella old news. Bryce Harper and Craig Kimbrel have disappeared like Luke after Kylo Ren turned to the Dark Side. Honestly, it’s pretty discouraging. Give me one player. Just something to talk about. This lack of activity isn’t exactly helping the league grow in popularity. SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!
