Bruins Lose Depth with Injury to Anders Bjork

As it gets closer to playoff time the Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy has to start to decide who will be on the team when they get to the postseason. Anders Bjork would have been one of those players from the AHL to be brought up to bring some scoring if needed but due to a shoulder injury that needed surgery he will be watching from the box.

In the playoffs now we can expect new additions like Wingles and Gionta to step in if needs be since Bjork is now sidelined. Also the Bruins may want to look into being up Harvard attendee Ryan Donato. Donato was a force in the Olympics and could definitely make a difference on this roster come playoff time. The Bruins have stacked up on theses young guys and it looks like some of them can really play, it’s going to be an exciting future for the Black and Gold with guys like Bjork, Debrusk, Pasta, Donato, McAvoy, Heinen and many more to come.

This injury is going to sideline Bjork for about 6 months. Bjork was on the team early this year but he got hurt and then he was battling the shoulder injury in the AHL and finally he got the surgery. Bjork is one of the better Bruins prospects who many think will be a top 6 toward in the league. Bjork, 21, had surgery to repair his lebral.

When healthy, Bjork was a pretty good player who is just got a taste of what it is like in the NHL and then unfortunately got hurt. This what is scary about Bjork. He needs to bulk up, somewhat like Pastrnak did when he was only a prospect. Bjork is looked at as too small and needs to put some muscle on, which is true since he got hurt because of this. A harmless hit from a Ducks defenseman turned into an injury because he isn’t as strong as he should be. He still will be a good player in the NHL because the Bruins like they did with Pasta will put him on some sort of weight gaining program so he can stay on his skates and fight for the puck more without falling over. Should be exciting to see what happens when he returns next year and see if he can pull out a roster spot.
