Can the Bruins Shake Their Not-So-Pleasant Past?

The Boston Bruins led this series 3-1, but now, headed back to Boston, they have lost the last 2 games to force a game 7. This is the only game 7 in the NHL, and I can’t say that I didn’t see this coming. In my predictions, I said that it would take 7 games for this series to be decided but I don’t feel confident in the Bruins ability to win this game. Tuukka Rask has been average at best this series (minus game 4) and actually cost the Bruins game 6, while Anderson has been standing on his head. Anderson is the reason that this series is even here and he stole game 5 and game 6 from the Bruins.

Think about this for a second. The Washington Capitals closed were able to close their series out against the Blue Jackets and the Bruins couldn’t close it out against the Maple Leafs. The Caps are known for not being able to close series out and they could do it but the Bruins couldn’t.
But those games are in the past and now both teams focus on game 7. Game 7 is a different animal. Anything goes down in game 7. Refs put the whistle away and just let the players battle it out for the W. Rask is going to have to be on his A game since Anderson has been for 4 games now after his first 2 jokes of games. The Bruins have to find a way to get the puck past Anderson and Donato might be the answer to that since Rick Nash has gone belly up so far. Cassidy has been outcoached by one of the greats in Mike Babcock and he needs to find a way to get this offense going like it was in game 1 and 2. The Bruins need the first line going again like it was in the first two games because they have gotten beat by Anderson and the Maple Leafs.
The defense hasn’t been good either for the B’s as McAvoy has looked terrible ever since he got back from injury and as much as I hate to say it, it looks like they miss Carlo a lot. Carlo didn’t seem to be that great of a defenseman but they clearly miss the big body.
The Bruins have not been good in elimination games in recent past and we’ll have to see if this is the new resilient Bruins or if they are still haunted by the past Bruins who didn’t get up for big games like this.
