How Does Daniel Theis’ Injury Impact the Celtics Going Forward?

Why? Just, why? I thought this was going to be the year that the Celtics were cured of the injury bug. First Baynes and now Theis, just leave the Celtics alone injury gods! Luckily, none appear to be serious injuries as Baynes is likely to return this week and Theis is only out for about a month, but still. We are six games into the season and Brad Stevens already has to make some lineup edits and fill valuable minutes.

What does this mean for the Celtics going forward? Do we see more minutes from the strongest human on the planet also known as Semi Ojeleye?

Look at his arms! The dude goes to the gym, lifts up all the weight, and then leaves. He can more than make up for Theis’ defense and fits well with the whole BWA attitude.

Does Brad go with a small ball lineup and give Rozier and Smart some more minutes? The NBA today is fast-paced and filled with shooters. Maybe going small is not the worst idea, but that obviously leads to the risk of getting outrebounded. Rebounding has been one of the biggest flaws for the Celtics year in and year out, no matter who is on the roster. The Celtics have not had a player average double-digit rebounds in over twenty years. The closest was in 2008 when KG averaged 9.2 RPG, but even the Celtics are not a great rebounding team.

What I hope to see is Robert Williams and Yabu get more minutes. What better time to get some deep bench guys some minutes than at the beginning of the season? The Bob x Yabu collab could be electric city because Williams can jump 13 feet in the air and Yabu is a walking meme. I don’t know what is going to happen, but luckily Stevens and Ainge are always two steps ahead.
