Karlsson Traded to the Sharks

Sound the alarm, folks. The Erik Karlsson situation has finally come to a close.

The Ottawa Senators found a way to deal Karlsson. The Sharks were the receivers of this deal and it looks like it was a clear-cut win for San Jose.

In exchange for Karlsson, the Sens received defenseman Dylan DeMelo, forward Chris Tierney, Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, and picks. Strangely enough, Tierney seems to be the centerpiece of the trade, which is a joke considering Karlsson is perhaps the best defenseman in the game.

This is obviously a huge deal for the Sharks. Their window to win a Cup looked to be closing, but with Karlsson now on the club, the window may open up again.

Karlsson will be a game changer for the Sharks. This is a player who can put up a ton of points from the back end and with Brent Burns, be one of the club’s best defenseman.

The 28-year-old all-world player will also be an additional weapon on the team’s power play. With Burns and Karlsson manning the point, the team could be absolutely lethal this year with the man advantage, something that would come in handy both in the regular season and in the postseason should the team get there.

It is clear that the Sharks are going all in on the hunt for hockey’s Holy Grail. They have a great offense, a now great defense, and a strong starting netminder in Martin Jones.

When you put all of these things together, you have a serious threat in the Western Conference and a surefire Cup contender. It’s up to them to hunt it down.
