When Tom vs Time ended, there were a lot of people saying a lot of different things about Tom Brady. That he was done. That his heart wasn’t in it anymore. That he was sick of being a Patriot. That he kissed his kids too much. Well, in the epilogue, Tom had a message for all of his detractors: “I just don’t give a f@&% anymore.”
The Tom vs Time epilogue is close to NSFW for Patriots fans. Brady clearly still has that fire and drive, and all the haters are being ground up and used for fuel in his machine-like body. He’s also still focused on being the best player in the world, but not because he has to, because he wants to and it’s fun for him. Were there some problems in the past? Yes. He even thinks that he shares some of the blame for that. But that time is done with, he’s moving forward and trying to do the impossible.
As I’ve outlined before, no one has had better than a mediocre season at QB age 42 or older. Brady doubled down and said he wants to play until he’s 45. If you don’t believe him, just look at what he did this offseason. If you’re in a relationship, and especially if you have a wife, you know, it’s all about making sacrifices for one another. Maybe Gisele didn’t take him seriously before, or maybe, as the kids have gotten older she’s insisted he try to spend more time with them. That, to me, is a sure sign that she believes him when he says he’s playing until 45, and she signed off only if he agreed to spend more time with the family in the offseason.
After watching, there’s only one thing to conclude: Tom is as ready and motivated for this season as he’s been for any other one before. This should terrify the rest of the league, considering he won league MVP last year, not to mention he threw for 500 yards in the Super Bowl. Patriots fans, get your popcorn ready because it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun watching Tom play this year.
