Toy Story 4 Reaches for The Stars and Grabs Them All

When I heard the was another Toy Story in the works after what most considered to be the perfect finale to the trilogy in Toy Story 3, I was a little nervous. Like many of you, I grew up with the Toy Story movies and was still wiping away tears caused by the last few moments in Toy Story 3. I just wasn’t sure how they could continue the franchise while keeping the story fresh and innovative like the previous three movies.

Well, much to my delight, Pixar has continued its incredible run with yet another Toy Story that will stand out on its own right while flowing seamlessly with the previous three films in the franchise. Toy Story 4 is a colorful, caring, and hilarious adventure that should easily go down as the best fourth film of any franchise and one of the best-animated films that we have seen.

Toy Story 4 continues to remind us that times are always changing and our roles in the world we live in change with age. While children will be captivated by some of the most incredible and beautiful animation put to screen, parents and young adults will feel knots in their stomach as the more mature elements of selflessness and finding purpose play out on the screen.

Luckily, Toy Story 4 will manage to keep the mood light for all with very funny dialogue and enjoyable new characters. It’s always nice to watch a family film with comedy that makes both adults and children laugh hysterically, and Toy Story 4 is one of those films. There is one sequence referenced in the trailer that is just as funny in the film as it was there. Seriously, I was dying in the theater.

The flip side of the comedy is the intriguing villain and the emotions that are provoked from that aspect of the story. Without getting into spoilers, Pixar really keeps that aspect of the story unpredictable for viewers and its a welcome change from the cookie cutter storylines Hollywood has been putting on the big screen, recently. And yes you’re probably going to shed a tear at the end of this film. I choked up but held it together for the kids in my theater.

Toy Story 4 is an incredible fourth installment in the gold standard for animated franchises. It’s beautiful, funny, thought-provoking, and it’s going to make you emotional. Toy Story 4 is a movie that you just don’t want to end. It’s perfect. Its only flaw was that it ended.
