All-Star voting for the MLB All-Star game has always been a joke. Whether it’s Kansas City Royals fans voting in 7 of their 9 starters to the mid-summer classic or Chipper Jones getting snubbed during his 1999 MVP season, the fan voting has never been short of its flaws.
This year is no different.
Despite being one of the best shortstops in all of baseball, Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was not fortunate enough to make the second round of voting.

Yes, You heard that correctly. Xander Bogaerts, who is, as of right now THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN THE AL will not be making this year American League All-Star roster (barring the final vote).
What a crock of shit.
In case you need a quick refresher, here is where Xander Bogaerts ranks statistically among American League shortstops: Third in Hits, second in doubles, first in Home runs, first in RBI’s, fourth in batting average, first in OBP, second in slugging percentage, second in OPS, and third in WAR.
How on God’s green earth is Xander Bogaerts not getting more votes than Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco, and Gleyber Torres? I understand that Jorge Polanco is having a tremendous season and is in front of Xander for most offensive categories, and Houston is an extremely vocal fanbase, but are you really going to sit here and tell me with a straight face that Carlos Correa and Gleyber Torres have been better than Xander Bogaerts this season? ESPECIALLY Gleyber Torres.
Bogaerts currently has more hits, runs scored, doubles, in addition to a higher batting average, OBP, slugging percentage, OPS, and WAR than Torres. How the good golly FUCK does Gleyber Torres get more All-Star votes than Xander Bogaerts?
I’m not even particularly mad at the voting system, even though somehow Hunter Dozier and Tommy La Stella (GOAT) are making the roster over Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers. I’m really mad at Red Sox fans.
How could you let this happen? How could you allow the best shortstop since Nomar not make an All-star team? Now, I know that not everyone is like me and votes 24 times a day for every member of the Sox starting lineup, but come on. If ANYONE from this Red Sox team deserved to go to Cleveland this year, It was Xander. It’s an absolute joke that this man won’t be an All-Star in 2019. And I don’t want to hear about how he may make the cut through the final vote because that’s a crapshoot anyways.
Shame on you Boston, and shame on you MLB All-Star game.
Also, fuck Gleyber Torres.
