I feel like I write something similar to this every season, and I’m really starting to get tired of it. There’s no question the New England Patriots are the undisputed kings of the AFC, but each year we get at least one nimrod who chimes in and says, “WAIT A SECOND HOW ABOUT THE STEELERS HUH?” Last year, it was Merril Hoge. This year, it’s some guy named Nick Wright.

Ok, so how about the Pittsburgh Steelers…
The “Killer B’s” that are Antonio Brown, Ben Roethlisberger, and Le’Veon Bell are a triple-headed monster when all are healthy, but that’s not something we’ve seen often. This year, though, they’re right on track with what the media predicted. AB leads the league in receiving yards and Bell in rushing, which doesn’t necessarily bode well for the Patriots defense although they’re trending upward since the awful start to the season. This brings me to the third B… Big Ben. Call me crazy but I’ve never been completely sold on him. I’ll agree with the fact that he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league right now, but the gap between him and Brady is huge.
As teams, both the Pats and Steelers have lost two games to teams they absolutely shouldn’t have. We know about the home opener against the Chiefs and the last second field goal against Carolina, but let’s take a look at Pittsburgh’s losses.
Week 3: 23-17 OT loss to the Chicago Bears. Not great.
Week 5: 30-9 BLOWOUT against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Really not great.
Roethlisberger went 33/55, with 312 yards, ZERO touchdowns, and FIVE interceptions.
Brady hasn’t even thrown five interceptions (in an entire season) since 2015.
The Patriots offense, while extremely banged up, is really getting into the late season mode we’re used to. Dion Lewis and new guy Rex Burkhead, or Sexy Rexy as I like to call him, are the biggest threats out of the backfield. Brandin Cooks, another new guy, is without question mentally synched up with Tom Brady. His speed plus his hands make it hard for any secondary to keep up. New guys #3 and #4, Phillip Dorsett and Dwayne Allen, are finally getting themselves in the mix. Then there’s Danny Amendola and Gronk. Need I say more?
